Put our 404 cat on your website. Free.

When someone follows a broken link to your site, they get a cat that follows their mouse and a button back to your homepage. Pick a cat, pick how to install it, done in about ten minutes.

Pick your cat

Both are free. Open each one and move your mouse to see what it does.

Wherever the pointer goes, the cat looks. Hover over its face and it blinks.

Sweep left and right and it runs across the drums. Leave it alone and it keeps the beat.

One thing to watch for

Show the cat as your 404 page. Don't redirect broken links to it.

Some site owners, and some WordPress plugins, send every broken link to a normal page at /404. That page answers "200 OK", so Google treats your missing pages as real ones, which can hurt your search ranking.

Every method on this page does it the right way. If you use a redirect plugin, check it isn't redirecting 404s.

Test it

Visit a link that doesn't exist on your site, like yourwebsite.com/meow. You should see the cat, and the address bar should still say /meow. If it changed to /404, something is redirecting.
